ELIGIBILITY
Q. Do I need to be able to speak and understand the English language in order to be able to apply for an internship?
Yes. You do require to be able to speak and understand the English language, at least at the basic level.
Q. I am an international student. Am I still eligible to apply?
If you are already in Australia, or plan to be here then you can apply. If you are living overseas then at this stage we do not cater for such applicants.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Q. What are the advantages of participating in an internship?
If selected as an intern you will:
• Gain invaluable international experience (for overseas students residing in Australia)
• Enhance your understanding of the Australian culture, language and business lifestyle.
• Be able to gain practical experience even while studying at the same time.
• Gain a valuable employment reference in a chosen field/industry sector.
Q. Who organises the internship?
The internship is organised by SkillZone Australia which is a private company based in Sydney. SkillZone Australia places potential interns with companies in Australia within a period of two to six weeks after fees have been paid.
Q. Do I get paid for the internship?
Our internships are a combination of unpaid, low paid, or middle paid and some can be fully paid depending on the host company.
Q. What is the duration of internship?
Our internship runs for duration of two months or longer, even up to a year but most internships are between 3 to 6 months.
Q. Can I choose the company I would like to work for?
Placements will be arranged by SkillZone Australia. Interns will not be able to select companies themselves but can offer their preferences.
DURING THE INTERNSHIP
Q. What kind of company will I be working for?
Companies can be any of either public, private, government or non-government organisations.
Q. How will I be monitored during my internship?
A representative of the host company will keep a written account of the tasks performed and assess each interns based on their capabilities, then generate a written reference for the intern at the end of the internship.
Q. Will I be assigned tasks with specific relation to my degree?
To some extent. However the internship should be seen as an opportunity to learn new skills and knowledge. We also ask you for three preferences of choice of job roles.
Q. Can I receive academic credit for my internship?
No.
Q. Will I receive a certificate upon completion of my internship?
All interns will receive a reference letter from the host company upon completion. This is sometimes called a certificate.
Q. What am I expected to wear during my internship?
Depending on the host company, you may be required to wear corporate attire, which could range from smart casual clothes to more formal wear.

Q. What documents do I need for my application?
Usually a resume and other relevant qualifications/course reference letter.
Q. What should I do when I encounter problems during my internship?
Talk to your supervisor first at the host company. Then afterwards talk to the SkillZone team if necessary.
